This year was Zoe’s first Halloween where we actually able to take her out trick or treating. Last year she was too small and wouldn’t of been much of an experience for her. She was able to fit her Penguin costume from last year but my wife bought another costume for her first Halloween. Photographing children is quite difficult as I found out as a first time dad. Especially when they are more mobile. We took Zoe and her costumes out to the park where luckily she stood still for the most part. It was Zoe’s first Autumn outdoors and when we put her down on the leaves, she froze. Perfect! Daddy can now take photos without you running everywhere!
These photos were taken with my Sony A7II and my manual focus Canon FD 50mm f/1.4. A very sharp vintage lens that I acquired for the smoking deal of $50 off craigslist. We headed to Ladner to go trick or treating with my wife’s friends and their kids. Unfortunately our neighbourhood doesn’t really participate much anymore in Halloween. Ladner was great though with lots of houses participating. Great for the kids to have some fun. Best part of it was some houses gave out full size chocolate bars! Zoe of course is too young to eat candy so my wife and I were the ones that had to *ahem* consume it all. We’re actually still working through her bag of candy to this day.
